The Travel Palace (迁移宫, Qiān Yí Gōng) is one of the twelve palaces of a Zi Wei Dou Shu chart. The world outside your door: relocation, travel, strangers, and the "you" that shows up away from home.
What the Travel Palace governs
The Travel Palace covers everything external: movement, migration, the social mask, luck away from home, and how unfamiliar environments treat you. Classical readings use it for relocation decisions — whether the person flourishes by leaving or by staying. Because it sits opposite the Life Palace, it is also read as the "outer self": the face the world gets, which sometimes matches the inner one and sometimes is a complete stranger to it.
How a reader reads this palace
A strong Travel Palace (bright benefics, Hua Lu) reads as fortune that opens away from home — the classic "leave and rise" signature. Hua Ji or malefics read as friction outside: effort that pays better at home base, or an outer self that keeps tripping over itself. Zi Wei here commands rooms; Tian Ji moves constantly; Tian Tong travels for pleasure. An empty Travel Palace borrows the Life Palace — inner and outer self largely coincide; what you see is what there is.
- Spouse Palace — love and distance — partners from afar, or strained by it
- Fortune Palace — whether the outside world feeds or drains your inner life
- Life Palace (opposite) — the inner self — read as one axis with the outer

Questions, answered
It means fortune tends to open away from home — the classic "leave and rise" pattern. Whether that implies emigration, a different city, or simply an outward-facing career depends on the whole chart, but the Life–Travel axis is the first thing a relocation reading checks.
Friction in the outside world: the social mask costs energy, or movement brings recurring snags. Often reads as "rise at home base first" — the opposite Life Palace then carries the weight.
