What the Life Palace governs
The Life Palace is the anchor of the entire chart — the "you" every other palace describes a facet of. Its stars describe your innate temperament, your default way of meeting the world, your natural rank and direction in life. A reading always begins here: the Life Palace sets the baseline that career, wealth and relationship palaces then modify. The palace opposite it — the Travel Palace — is read together with it, as the "outer self" that completes the inner one.
How a reader reads this palace
First look at the Major Stars seated here: Zi Wei (the Emperor) reads as natural authority; Wu Qu (the General) as disciplined execution; Tan Lang (the Desire Star) as appetite and range. Then weigh brightness — the same star reads noble in Miao (庙) and strained in Xian (陷). Then check the four transformations (四化): a Hua Lu here reads as ease and opportunity; Hua Ji marks the life-long homework. An empty Life Palace borrows the opposite Travel Palace's stars — common, and read as a self defined more by environment than by a fixed inner script.
