Direct Wealth (正财, Zhèng Cái) is the opposite-polarity stem of the element your Day Master controls. How to find your Direct Wealth
Every Ten God starts from the Day Master. Direct Wealth is the stem your Day Master controls from across the yin-yang divide — yang controls yin, yin controls yang. For a Yang Wood (甲) Day Master, Wood controls Earth; the yin Earth stem is 己 (Jǐ) — so 己 is your Direct Wealth. The "direct" in the name marks the proper, face-to-face version of the relationship, as opposed to the freewheeling same-polarity star.

People with strong Direct Wealth keep a quiet ledger in the chest. Time is priced, effort is measured, and waste offends on a physical level. This is the star of the long middle: no lottery mornings, no dramatic arcs — just the arithmetic of small amounts, correctly handled, for a very long time. Classical texts compress it into two virtues, 勤 diligence and 俭 thrift — the pair that filled every granary in every dynasty.
- Diligent accumulation — money understood as many small correct decisions, kept long enough to compound
- Careful stewardship — what is earned is defended: budgets, buffers, maintenance, insurance
- Pricing time — knows to the hour what an hour is worth, and grows uneasy spending it idly
- Keeping contracts — a delivery promised is a delivery made; reliability hardened into identity
When the granary becomes a fortress
A Day Master strong enough to carry wealth — 身强担财 — turns this star into plain, boring, enviable prosperity. The classical texts are unromantic about it: a strong self enjoys what it can hold, and no more arrives than the frame can bear. Three named structures do the heavy lifting:
- 身强担财 — the strong self carries wealth. Money as servant and instrument, never master: the earner remains the author of the fortune's purpose.
- 财旺生官 — flourishing wealth generates the Officer. Surplus converted into position and legitimacy: the business formalized, the estate invested with standing.
- 财官相生 — Wealth and Officer in mutual support. Wealth feeds rank, rank protects wealth — the classical merchant-gentleman structure, money married to mandate.
The classical praise for the finished picture is quiet but absolute: 财官两旺 — the twin pillars of a settled, respected house, a fortune built to outlive its earner.
When the money owns you
The star's shadow has a classical name with real teeth: 财多身弱 (wealth heavy, self weak). It is the chart of the person rich on paper and exhausted in fact — the portfolio issuing orders, the person obeying them. More wealth than the frame can carry reads as money that drives rather than serves: chronic overwork, anxiety over holdings, the peculiar poverty of the very solvent. The rest of the shadow is the virtue curdled:
- Hoarding — caution frozen solid: capital that should circulate into health, learning or joy sits guarded, doing nothing

Accounting, banking and audit; operations and supply chain; asset management, insurance, actuarial work; running one shop for thirty years. Every field where care compounds — where the careful person eventually becomes the rich one, not the lucky one. Direct Wealth earns by stewardship, not conquest: the raise negotiated calmly, the index fund never sold in a panic, the margin improved two percent a year until it is sixty. It pairs naturally with Officer stars (wealth feeding rank), and the classical warning about Rob Wealth applies — a granary needs guards, and the peer star will test the locks. The failure mode is the mirror of the gift: turning down every good risk because it is not a perfect one, and calling that prudence.
Direct Wealth in love
For men, classical texts read Direct Wealth as the wife star: the partner chosen with intent, provided for, kept faith with — love expressed as provision and commitment, the wedding as a contract honored for life. It should be said plainly: the old metaphor lists the wife among the things the Day Master "controls", which is a twelfth-century household ledger speaking, not eternal truth. What survives translation is the devotion — steady care as a primary love language, romance with a receipt, a mortgage retired together as this star's idea of a sonnet.
For women, the classical reading ran through the marriage: her Wealth stars were said to feed the Officer (husband) star, 财能生官 — her money serving the house. Modern practice reads the star identically for everyone: earning capacity, thrift, stewardship — and for a woman with strong Direct Wealth, the independent-earner identity: the account in her own name, the partner chosen rather than depended on. For all genders the caution is the same: do not let usefulness become the measure of a person — including oneself.
